HBB Star – Vicki Morris
We love catching up with the movers and shakers in our Huntsville community and today we had the opportunity to connect with Vicki Morris. Check out our conversation below:
Hi Vicki, tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from, what’s your upbringing?
I’m originally from Atlanta GA. I have a twin brother and a younger sister. I went to Northside High school for Performing Arts, and got my BBA from Georgia State University in Marketing. I’m from the play outside ’til its dark generation. I love getting to know new people and learn exciting and interesting things!!
So what inspired you to start your own business?
Because I was a stay at home mom for 12 years I had a gap on my resume that no one wanted to take a chance on. I knew I had something to offer, I just could convince an employer to take a chance on me. So the ONLY way I was going to have a meaningful career was for me to carve one out for myself. I DID NOT want to be an entrepreneur, but now I absolutely every bit of it. The long days, the weeks without a check all led to the success I enjoy now. I have a team and a healthy pipeline of new clients every month!!
That is so great to hear! So what is unique about your company? Tell us a bit more.
Face To Face Marketing is a full service marketing communications firm. We help clients develop solutions for their communications needs including building on point websites, designing engaging corporate brands, and cultivating messaging strategies to help our clients reach their ideal customers.
So what have been your biggest challenges, and how have you overcome them?
Making time to work on my business has been one of the biggest struggles I encountered. I simply got to a point that I was willing to let my business slow WAY down so I could invest in training, and learn what I needed to do to get where I wanted to be.
If you could speak to your younger self, just starting out, what advice would you give him/her?
Build the infrastructure first, and have a good understanding of what you want to accomplish and start from there. Entrepreneurship is hard and it takes time to be good at it. Slow down, and enjoy the process.
What’s your dream/the end game?
I want to travel the world consulting with companies helping them fine tune their message. I want to build my company so that it can operate without me in the day to day ops. I want to build generational wealth that my great grand kids will benefit from.
What advice do you have for other entrepreneurs?
Always keep learning. Never turn down a meeting. Listen first, digest what you learned and apply the principles. Then go and pour into another coming behind you. Be sure to give back to your community. Find an opportunity to volunteer, serve on a board. Get involved in a Chamber of Commerce or other like minded organization. This helps you expand your reach. Don’t be afraid to invest in yourself. If you don’t invest in you, why would anyone else??
